26/10/17 - Princess Marina

Superheater element and header flange  are done for the Princess Marina boiler. I've opted for a single larger 3/8" radiant element rather than two smaller non-radiant 1/4" ones. It extends to the back of the firebox and has about 4 inches exposed to the fire.

My line of thinking was the Martin Evans Simplex design has a single non-radiant 3/8"  superheater and it does well, and this loco has smaller cylinders. So the same size element with slower moving steam and radiant higher temp superheating should give quite a good performance.

13/10/17 - Princess Marina

Some play this week making up the quadrant for the Princess Marina regulator and cutting a square and thread on the spindle.

The regulator is a disc in a tube but I've used Teflon on the valve so there's no scoring of the valve face by bronze on bronze.

Over recent 8 weeks I've been involved in a full-size steam project (based around people) which helps me to creatively recharge for time solo on the modelling jobs.

Will be able to divulge a bit more at a later stage on that project as it develops!
