Welcome 2018!

Back into the shed for 2018, and cleaning up a couple of odds and ends from last year, plus prepping an order of stainless steel loco numbers for a 5" gauge 38 class.

Today a quick little job was done to make some wooden handles for a regulator valve lapping tool I borrowed last year. The original wooden handles were gone and so some replacements were made from hardwood offcuts machined to size in the lathe. The original handles may have been file handles as the ferrules were still there but almost worn through.

Turned to 1" diameter they have a machined steel ferrule with a 2mm thick base so they aren't likely to wear through like the last ones any time soon.

The lapping tool is for NSW standard dome regulators.

Tomorrow's job is back onto the live steam work.

Happy steaming!

Nigel
